Re: P212 Raid Controller - Support for 6TB?

Hi,

I don't think P212 will get a firmware update to support 6TB hard drive.

Even with the latest release here, I don't see any fixes for 6TB support.

Thank You!

The latest SPP doesn't work on G5 servers and I don't think this server has a BIOS update newer than July 2013.
So just download the SPP from September 2013. ;)

New DL360 G5 iLO firmware missing from support pages

Hi,

on the support page for DL360 G5 for RedHat 5 x86-64 but also for other OSes there is listed very old firmware for iLO, version 1.43 from Dec 2007. I know for sure that there were many new versions, I lately downloaded 2.25. Why is there such old version, what is latest version and where can I find it?

Thanks.

Hi,

If the return code is 6, HP SUM cannot update this component. No action necessary.

The reasons could be:

The component is already updated.

That hardware does not exist on this server.

That hardware is disabled.

Thank You!

Hi Yann,

If you installed the HPILOCmdlets with version 1.1

it's not support the network ipv6 settings.

Now we are developing the a new cmdlets named set-hpiloipv6networksetting in verison 1.2

And it will be released at 2014/12

Hai, I am ravikumar and i have a server model HP ProLiant DL180 G5 with Smart Array e200 with BBWC connected. When I go to console page of the server for a check it is showing an error as battery failed. This problem is found in the server from the day the server got suddenly got shutdown. From the day the server was booting and working with the error. Please find the attachment

My problem is, if i replace the battery is this disappears, or any firmware to be updated.

If firmware is updated is there any chance of losing the data on the controller,if so please let me know what to do, to make this error disappear.

RaviKumar.

Replace the failed battery and update to version 1.86.

All data are on the disks, not (only) on the controller.

Thank you for your reply

Do you say that after replacing the battery, and updating the firmware, there will be no data lose, beacuse it is stored in the hdd's

My Doubt is , is the raid configuration gets distrubed and can lose the data.

if my raid configuration gets distrubed then tell me another alternete

There is no problem updating the firmware, as long as all disks are healthy and not failed already.

Just to add on Torsten.

The cache battery, is a cache battery only. When the battery is defective, write cache will be disabled.

When the battery has been replaced and charged write cahe will be re-enabled.

Read cahe is always on (Unless there's no cahe module)

And RAID configuration, state etc. is stored on the disks (all disks).

As far as I know, there is no configuration on the controller. In the past yes, but I believe it is no longer so (I might be wrong ).

So go ahead and replace the battery, or live with it.

I beliive its the sum of discontinued Hardware and no longer supported Operating systems.

Latest ILo 2 FW, is AFAIK still 2.25.

ILo 2 is used in G6 servers.

ILo 3 is used in G7 (only ?).

Ilo 4 is used in Gen 8 > (for now)

I think the web page is just not up to date. RHEL lists version 2.07, windows 2008 lists 2.25 for this server model.

But the current SPP 2014.09 has the correct files:

Linux - CP023069.scexe

Windows - cp023067.exe

Hello

According to page 16 of the QuickSpecs for the HP Proliant ml310e gen8 v2 server, this server only supports Raid 0 (Striping), RAID 1 (Mirroring), and RAID 1+0 (Striping & Mirroring). It does not support RAID 5 configuration.

Jimmy Vance is correct that you will need a P-series controller.  The HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC 6Gb 2-ports Int SAS Controller is compatible with the HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 series server and provides support for RAID 5.  I also recommend looking at the guide for Selecting Storage Controllers for HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers, which lists the HP Smart Array P-series controllers available for HP Proliant servers for all the RAID configurations.

If you are in need with further assistance please do not hesitate to let me know and I will be happy to assist you or locate another HP Specialist in your area.
