Thanks for your reply Jimmy.

I tried to reboot and start the deletion process again a couple of times and also tried to clear the configuration, but it didn't help unfortunately. Any other suggestions maybe?

Thanks in advance.

Hello good day. Thanks for answering.

Normally I use the Windows 10 remote desktop to connect via VPN l2tp to Windows Server 2016. The iLO remote console used it eventually, but I always get that error.

If I modify the parameter that it is indicating to me, will it affect in some way the access to the remote console of Windows Server?

HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen 10's QuickSpecs are clear enough IMHO.

Those 64GBytes of RAM is the maximum value you can deploy considering just one physical CPU...since the HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen 10 supports only one CPU...then 64GBytes is also the maximum value for a HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen 10 server (plus you have to consider that the motherboard hosts 4 DIMMs for just one physical CPU socket and each DIMM of this group of four supports at best up to 16GBytes Unbuffered DIMM Memory module...that's 4 x 16GBytes = 64GBytes of Unbuffered RAM).

Hello Mrs,

following setting has to perfom on windows server 2016 and it will not affected any hardware.

i suggest to perform this activity at non production time.

According to this review from december 2018: https://www.servethehome.com/hpe-proliant-dl20-gen10-review-compact-and-nimble-server/
The DL20 Gen10 can support 128GB ram when Intel updates their Xeon e-2100 processors with 128GB ram support and HP releases a bios update.

According to Intel ARK the e-2136 supports 128GB: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/134857/intel-xeon-e-2136-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-50-ghz.html

Is there any information when HP releases the bios update?

Is Intel x520 10 Gigabit NIC compatible with ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server?

Hi.

I wonder if Intel x520 10 Gigabit NIC is compatible with ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server? I can't find any information/HCL. I have installed it and it is recognized correctly in server's BIOS, but firmware version information is empty, and server start fails with red screen showing CPU registers contents. I have tried ProLiant service pack and it installed NIC drivers, but firmware info is still empty, and start fails again.

If that configuration is supported where can I download drivers/firmware for that NIC model?

Thanks in advance

Understood, thank you very much. At the moment I can, I will put that configuration.

If what you wrote will happen it shall be necessary that (a) HPE releases 32GBytes UDIMM for DL20 Gen10 and (b) HPE reconfigure DL20 Gen10 to support that new UDIMM size...I personally doubt it will be done.

HP ML350 Gen9 no bootable devices found

Hello,

My HP server has 2 controllers:

1. P840 - 12 disks. RAID 5. Red Hat Linux boots off this

2. P440ar - 8 disk. RAID 5. Now there was a failed disk on this controller. Then another one failed.

The system is was flashing red. No bootable devices found.

Removed P440ar from motherboard. System is green. But still no bootable devices found.

Can I remove the P840 controller, reset mother board, reinsert controller and RAID configuration won't be lost?

Is this a known issue? P840 and P440ar sometimes conflicts?

The raid information is stored on each disk in the array.  You can have  multiple smart array controllers in a system without conflict. Assuming you are in UEFI mode the boot information is written to UEFI and the system isn't looking for an INT13 device like older BIOS based systems. You can try to add another boot entry in RBSU and have it look on the devices the system reconises for an EFI bootloader.   Are you positve the boot array was the healthy array and not the one with two failed drives?  With two drives failed on the 8 disk RAID 5 array all the information in that array is lost

I use the ProLiant DL380 Gen10 , The Server restart 2 time in 2 week.

In system log show as below :

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff801cddce963, 0xffffd000b36ee058, 0xffffd000b36ed870).

Could you please help to solve the issue.

Thank you,

Hi,

We had the same problem on a DL360 gen10 with SA P408-i
What we found to make it work:

When IP asks about the Raid Configuration choose "Keep current settings" instead of "Recommended Settings"
(using Assisted Install)

Perhaps it works with the DL380 also.

Dl 360e Gen8 onboard SATA and SD

Hi all,

I'm looking for some info regarding onboard SATA, slimline SATA and SD card port.

I just get DL 360e G8 LFF for my home lab. I wanted to install light weight OS either on SD card, or Windows Server on SSD. Problem is that It's not detecting SD card at all (i tried three of them including HP branded), does anyone has some experience with it?  Then I tried connecting SSD to SATA port on board and that's the other question.

There is a SATA port called rear SATA but no power connector, I supplied power from the connector which goes to caddies and tested it on 2.5" HDD. Drive is spinning but not detected by the system. Does not matter what SATA option I set up in BIOS RAID b120i, EHCI SATA or legacy SATA. Only drives in the caddies are detected during controller initialization. Same goes for iLO only caddies’ drives are visible

I'm have done the BIOS upgrade to ver 2019 and iLO4 2.70.  The only thing which changed after the iLO update was the fan speed from 26% to 38% is there any way to downgrade iLO version?

I haven't tried slimline SATA (for optical drive), I would have to order adapter cable to test it.

Does anyone have some experience with that? What's the rear SATA connector intended use?

Thanks in advance

Foxy

HPE ESXi 6.5 or 6.7 for DL 380e Gen8

Dear All,
I'm looking for an HPE ESXi 6.5 or 6.7 Iso file for dl 380e Gen8 servers.
In the HP server matrix is marked that only 6.0 is supported.
Did any one has build an iso for ESXi  6.5 or 6.7 for DL 380e gen8 or can say how to build such an iso.

Best regards

This problem is still around. I have been trying to download the SPPs for three days now and it always fails at 99%

This is a real nightmare because the download is also awfully slow!

Thanks for the reply

Will give that a shot

I am positive that it was not the bootable array that failed. The bootable one is intact.

There is a post on the internet where there was a conflict between P840 and P440ar. Only if the P440ar is removed then can one boot from the P840. So I thought my problem is a similar one. The system tripped somehow.

The default controller B140i needs configuration comes up.

But can I remove the P840 controller, motherboard reset, and then put back controller and RAID will still be intact?

If your not using the embedded B140i, you can disable the controller so the configuration message will go away.

The array information is stored on each drive in the array.  You can remove the controller, and even switch controllers ((as long as the firmware is the same level or newer) and the controllers will see the array they are attached to and identify them properly. The array information is not saved on the controller itself.  Be sure to have the drive backplane disconnected from the controller when you reset the system.

Standard disclaimer: whenever you are messing around with drives or controllers, make sure you have a valid data backup just in case.

Will give it a shot then!

Linux stick it sees the 6 TB volume. I wonder if I should do a disk dump of this as a back up?
