Issues with HPE 562SFP+ in Debian

Hi,
We are seeing some strange issues with this card.
We are running Debian 8.7.


I know that this is an HPE branded card, but as far as I know this card should use the i40e driver under Linux.
I compiled the latest driver 2.0.19 found at sourceforge from Intel.

So the issues we are seeing..
First of all when the driver is loaded correctly and the interfaces turn up we do not get any traffic between the Debian server and the switch.
We don't even see the mac address on the switch in the remote end.

 

Secondly..
Sometimes when we boot the server the interface does not show at all, and some times only of them.I have noticed this error in kernel messages when this happen:

1.856937] i40e 0000:08:00.1: Initial pf_reset failed: -15

[    1.856939] i40e 0000:08:00.1: previous errors forcing module to load in debug mode

 

So what could be wrong? Are we using the wrong driver..
One of the problems here is that HPE does not provide any official drivers for Debian/Ubuntu....

Unfortuanelty I thiink the answer is in your image. The controller doesn't support 4Kn drives in RAID mode.

buongiorno a tutti

premetto che ho solo conoscenze sommarie di sw, 

sono titolare di uno studio con un server e 5 pc client

 

il server è 

HP PROLIANT ML310e Gen8 V2

il S.O. è  windows server 2012 foundation ROK

 

Il server viene usato come file server e solo con il programma di contabilità (Ebridge di Buffetti) utilizza i 5 PC come client.

Quindi non è configurato nessun dominio

 

Il problema è il seguente:

se tengo acceso il server per più di 5 o 6 giorni consecutivi mi appare il messaggio :"controllo della conformità delle licenze non completato il server verrà arrestato dopo 9 giorni.

Ho provato a seguire qualche blog di MS relativo a questo problema, ma mi sono perso...,perchè non mi sembrava fosse la mia situazione (che mi sembra relativa ad una configurazione molto semplice)

di seguito le proprietà della sk di rete e del DNS:

protocollo internet versione 4

IP: 192.168.1.10

subnet mask:255.255.255.0

gateway: 192.168.1.8

DNS predefinito: 192.168.1.10

DND alternativo:8.8.4.4

 

Spero che qualcuno possa essermi d'aiuto.

Generally the Linux inbox NIC drivers work without issue. Occasionally HPE will release a driver because our schedule doesn't  match up to the OS vendor or we release a new NIC that the inbox driver doesn't recognise the PCI ID of until the next kernel update.  You should be able to get the source from the NIC vendor if you want to compile your own version.

In this case maybe the NIC is having issue with the SFP+ transceiver being used?

PCI Bus Error in IML log

HI, on a newly installed ProLiant DL380 Gen9 (Server 2012R2) I receive this error from IML:

PCI Bus Error (Slot 1, Bus 0, Device 2, Function 0)
Operating System failure (Windows bug check, STOP: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000005, 0xFFFFE00126868028, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000))

Server rebooted couple of times in last few days.

What device could casuse such a failure and Windows restart?

Problem with libsa.sys Windows BLUESCREEN

I have ProLiant DL380e G8 server. Win 2012R2 std. Today i have happy to see blue screen! In libsa.sys DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Not any writes in Windows event log!!! =( Self diagnostic tool for B320i raid array have two critical strings. 15 Box Failure Due To Primary Io Module Critical This problem? What i can do?

MicroServer Gen8, select individual boot drive order, not just type

Hello there,

So I own a MicroServer Gen8 (to be exact: G1610T) and I use the ODD port to connect a boot SSD with Windows on it. It's working fine and I can boot it, but only as long as I have all 4 HDDs in the trays removed when booting the server, else it'll loop at the "Attempting to boot from C:" screen, then jumps to network boot and back again.

It seems the server is trying to find a boot section on the HDDs first, fails and skips the SSD on the ODD port entirely and jumps straight to the next boot device type in the list. Now here's the problem: I can't set individual drive priorities in the BIOS, only what type of device it should take first.
As example 1: HDD, 2: CDROM, 3: NIC.
But I can't set it like 1: SSD, 2: HDD1, 3: HDD2, etc.

Is there any way to fix this? I found that some people use the MicroSD slot with GRUB installed and use that to boot from the SSD but I don't want additional components which could potentially fail simply because HP missed out on including an important function which even cheap 30$ motherboards and other server manufacturers have...

There is no native UEFI tool for configuration.

You can run SSA as GUI or CLI, based on Intelligent Provisioning that is built-in.

I can't install the titled software because :

"Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed."

Yet, the very first screen says: 

"The software is not installed on this system, but is supported for installation."

Any ideas ?

Hardware Malfunction, NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hi, 

I have a DL320 G5p running on Windows 2003 recently have a hardware malfunction error. I have done a physical check and no amber light were to be found. Is there any other way to detect if it's really a hardware issue besides accessing it through the ilo? 

Windows logs have been collected from the event viewer as well, but nothing significant was found. 

Please advise, thank you!

You could have a look into the IML of the server.

This looks like a bad DIMM.

The array/RAID settings are actually stored on each disk and not stored in the controller itself. How did you re-create the array settings on the new server?  All you should have done was moved the disks from the old server to the new server and turned it on.  The only caveat when moving disks to a new system is the controller must be using the same or newer firmware version as the original.

Adding hard drives to ML350e server

Hi everyone, 

I have an ML350e Gen 8 server (p/n 686771-S01) in which I added a P420 controller at purchase (p/n 631670-B021). The first drive cage is filled to capacity with 6 LFF drives.

I need to add hard drives to this server to increase storage space.

From what I found online, I would need to add a second P420 controller. I also need an additional LFF drive cage  with the hot plug backplane, but I just can't find the part number for this item.

Can anyone help?

Workstation wx8600 system board for ProLiant ML150G3???

Hello folks

Hope someone can help - I've been running an old ProLiant ML150G3 as a home server and media server.

I wan't to upgrade by replacing the system board with a Workstation wx8600 480024-001 system board (for ML150 G3 P/N 410426-001)

Can anyone think of a reason not to?
