Hello Everyone,

I see it can handly Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 5300 sequence:

(Examples)

Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor E5335 (2.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB,80 W)

Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor E5320 (1.86 GHz, 1066 FSB, 80W)

Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor E5310 (1.6 GHz, 1066 FSB, 80W)

I fail to understand which ones or higher can I install/compatible for 2-CPUS on my system.

I need help to know what is the best choise and performance to have 2-CPU installed and to replace my 5130.

Thank you and good day!

a reboot may help, pulling the power plugs definetely helps.

ILO version 2.54 should prevent this behaviour.

Hi,

ML150 G3 server is very old.
Is it worth it to buy a new processor?
It will be difficult to find both the processor as well as unnecessary investment. :S

There are two types of mainboards on this server.
The first type supports Dual-Core only processor systems and second type Quad-Core and newer Dual-Core processor systems

System board (used no eariler Dual-Core only processor systems) 410426-001

System board (used on Quad-Core and newer Dual-Core processor systems, but is backward compatable with older Dual-core systems that use eariler version system board) 436718-001

what type of motherboard you have?

Hello Erdogan Temur,

The motherboard that I got from what I saw on the eBay purchase was:

HP Proliant ML150 G3 Motherboard 436718-001 436356-001 System Board

(Is there a more accurate area like in the BIOS to have the proper information?)

Currently I am running 2 processors 5130 and I know the system is old but it run Win2012R2x64 (8GB RAM) without a problem which is all that I need and I've already purchased enough to just have it up and running again and back from the grave.

The only reason I wanted to get better CPU's is to have it at its tip performance, currently used only for single IIS Web Server, PHP, SQL and Sharing Data which is all that it will ever be needed for. I love bring back to life old systems especially when you do not need super powerful system but good old realiable (not expensive) servers. :)

Anyhow, I am getting all carried away, so yeah... I wanted to know what is the top, best, performance CPU's that can work on it just to put the final touch.

Currently it has:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 64-Bit Standard
  • HP Smart Array E200 (Firmware 1.86) running HOT SWAP - 6x 300GB SAS 15K RAID1+0
  • 3 TB HDD for dedicated backup only
  • USB HP External Floppy Drive which works (Yay!)
  • 3 Optical drivers (1x IDE) (2x ATA BD-Burner/SecureBurn)
  • 8GB MAx Memory
  • 2x Intel Xeon 5130 CPU (2 Processors)

Have to say that I am very happy with it and always fun to see them run again.
So yeah, let me know your thoughts on this and what you would recommend.

Thanks a lot and good day!

DL380 Gen 9 - UMCE

Hello Everyone

My DL380 Gen9 got rebooted unexpectedly. Upon checking the ILO logs i found a UMCE (Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception - picture attached below). The server is back online but in degraded state. I followed the GEN 9 troubleshooting guide which tells me to replace the processor of my server. Any leads as to what is the problem and how it can be fixed other than the replacement ?

Thanks in advance !

hi m8,

How you can see they are in failure state?

You can see network adapters in network section in your system.

They could be not connected at the back of the Blade Enclosure, depends what type of cards do you have in your blade server and what configuration is at the back of the enclosure.

Could you attach any screen shot?

HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 ODD Boot?

Hello,

I just picked up a Microserver Gen 8 and I'm using it for a home NAS for personal files and media. I wanted to use a 60GB SSD for a boot drive, allowing me to have all 4 drive bays free. However, I am unable to boot from the ODD bay UNLESS I put the SSD into RAID1 from within the ILO suite. Then I am able to boot to the drive like normal.

How would I go about fixing this? People have said it's a pretty bad way of setting it up and in my opinion its a pretty botched way. So how would I go about just allowing normal SSD boot without using RAID and just seeing it as a normal SSD?

Hi m8,

It is hard to say exactly what is the problem with the CPU but per the information you attached. But sometimes it is as well somewhere with communication between the motheboard and CPU where the issue could be the firmware. Try to upgrade the firmware to the lastest version and check if it will get any results. If no I would recommend run the case with HPE and get the replacement.

Piotr

Shame you got to this point.  I ahve one behaving EXACTLY the same way.  I repoaced the PSU with a known good one, and also the motherboard.  STill the same symptoms.  There is so little else to try that I'm probably going to dump it also.  Shame.

System fan, CPU fan, CPU itself, maybe DIMMS and that's about it.  There's not much else in these babies.

Is it applicable for DL380 Gen9 servers as well?

I got below message during reboot after OS install

[Firmware Bug]: the BIOS has corrupted hw-PMU resources (MSR 38d is 330)

Thanks,

Sajin

Yes,  this is a harmless informational message . You can disable all of the processor power management and telemetry reporting in RBSU to avoid the messages

Hello,

Greetings!

I want to know the EOL date for HP DL560.  because we have purchessed 40 servers (380 & 560) out of that 5 serves are only 560 which got 4yr warranty rest of the serves are for 5yr. checked with procurment team but they are also unable to answer.

So 1 point is team has persposly purchessed for 4yr or HP told that for DL 560 you will get only 4 yr ( till Feb 2017) rest server can get 5ry (Feb18).

Hello surferleo

That CPU, is it 100% Supported on my HP ProLiant 150 G3 Motherboard or how do I find out that it is?

It is a sweet CPU:
Intel Xeon E5645 SLBWZ Six Core CPU 6x 2.4 GHz, 12 MB Cache, 5.86 GT/s, Socket 1366

Definitely a Six Core would be wonderful and really efecient but I really, really, really, really need to make sure this WORKS @ 100% and not 99.99%

Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
