Re: ML350 Gen9 P440 Expansion - Connection instrucrtions

Hi Arno,

Please refer to the cabling diagram of ML350 Gen9 which shows the cabling for the controllers in PCI slots to the FBWC module backup(Smart Storage Battery in this case) power cabling:-

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c05052722

In the above link refer to:-

FBWC module backup power cabling

Storage controller installed in slot 1 to 4

Storage controller installed in slot 6 to 9

Link also shows the cabling of the Smart storage battery to the systemboard.

So depending on which slot the controller is installed refer to the cabling diagram

Hope this answers your query.

You could try to pull the power plugs and re-insert them, then try the format again.

But maybe the NAND is really defective. In that case you need to replace the system board.

Hello,

Thank you for the update.

I tried in our Lab , I did face the SA controller driver issue because of that SA controller driver not available for Windows 2019.

I would request you follow the OS incompatible matrix of this server.

Re: Mismatch in OIDs of MIBs for DL380 Gen10

Hi,

Could you let us know how the alarms are being tested.

Are the alarms are received from iLO5 with a wrong OID?

Hope the alarms are not being checked with the OS on the server as there are no SNMP or WBEM based management agents provided for Gen10 servers.

A screenshot or output of the alarm showing wrong OID will be helpful to provide further updates.

A supported list of SNMP traps and MIBs is provided in the document https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00026111en_us.

Also the previous version of MIB kit can be checked and it is available at https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c04272529.

I did power cable off cycles several times.

At some moment in Ilo was stated that NVRAM is Write protected.

That is when I found SW2 switches on mobo.

But SW2 description HP provides isn't meaningful for me.

1. Is there any option how to write protect this ILO flash (NANAD or NVRAM ... )?

2. If F5 and F10 doesn't work because of this issue, how usable is server? Any tasks still capable to do or not?

Thanks.

Hi

Check by updating server component firmware with latest SPP 2019.12.0  and configure workload profiles to Virtualization - Max Performance from server RBSU(System ROM BIOS).

You can downlaod Latest SPP 2019.12.0 from below link.

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_69c577a5de814a8ea6db8fcea1

Please refer customer advisory for more information.

Also please refer below link for the minimum Operating System requirements matrix includes minimum supported version for each supported HPE server.

If still issue continued please provide the complete Uncorrectable Machine Check Error from IML event available on iLO web console.

I found solution:

I have to use: cable 670728-002 (755742-001) 10pin -> 2x 6pin. After connect with this cable Bios detect card Nvidia M4000 and ubuntu show it too.

If you create an USB device, don't use Rufus or similar, it works with the included USB Key Utility ONLY!

Write protected means write failure.

There is nothing you can do.

WIth a failed NAND the ILO may not work fully, so you don't have hardware monitoring, Intelleigent Provisioing, Logs, fan control, virtual media, etc ...

Thanks for the answer.

Sorry for the late reply. I was sick.

Next time in the office I will try remove the cage and the backplane, so I can access from behind.

Have a nice day!

Hi Sanjeev,

Thanks for your reply and for testing Server 2019! You showed what I was afraid would happen ... driver incompatibility issues. Since Server 2019 didn't work I would imagine Windows 10 Pro, Workstation, and Enterprise won't install either because of the drivers too.

I Google-searched for "hp proliant ml350p drivers" and found this site :

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/km/product/5195931/Product?cc=us&lang=en#t=DriversandSoftware&sort=relevancy&numberOfResults=25

Using the filters for "2016" and "drivers" I see many files I can download. Can I ask you to confirm that this is the right place to download from? I know it's a silly question but I don't want to assume anything.

Your experiment saved me quite a bit of money because I won't be buying the wrong version of Windows Server.

Thanks for your help!

Re: DL360 G6 SAS Backplane firmware update failure: Read NVRAM - NVRAM_Data Failed Error Code is 82

Hi,

thanks.

Yes, I have updated to iLO 2.33 before doing the SAS backplane update

I cleared the NVRAM (set Switch 6 to ON, power on, let post, power off, set switch 6 back), and now the upper backplane shows correctly (without the need to reapply the firmware upgrade, it was already on 1.18)

However, now the lower backplane  identifies as upper backplane as well: Bays 1-4 are gone both in iLO, and F8 Raid configuration, and Bays 5-8 show double.

IMG_20200226_171227.jpg

I again cleared the NVRAM in he hope that this will solve the issue, but still same problem.

It is really strange, because before the problem was that the upper backplane did not show correctly,

There is no IML, iLO error visible

ML350p Processor Upgrade - Steps and parts?

$

I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here but I would like to know what it would take to upgrade the processor in a ML350p.

The machine I am getting has two 2640 V2 processors. I have swapped and upgraded processors before so I understand how careful one must be when handling them.

Can I reuse the same heatsink or does HP use a diferent unit?

Does the BIOS and or any other firmware need to be upgraded before upgrading the processors?

How does Windows Server react when it sees new processors? Will it throw up screens and warnings?

Would I be ok using the stock 2x750W supplies with the 2697 V2?

Thanks!

Re: DL380 Gen10 12LFF only sees 10 disks

Thank you for your reply!  Here are my findings so far:

  1. yes, I'm using only HPE SATA drives. By swapping drives, I verified that they are all working
  2. Reseating the cabling didn't change anything. In addition, I swapped the cables of the lowest 2 drive boxes and this showed that the problem must be on the controller site as the problem moved to the other drive box
  3. The M.2 SSD was a Samsung card I happen to have laying around, not an HP one. Removing it didn't solve the problem

Unfortunately, I will not be at the office for a while, so I will have to let it rest for the moment. I will probably contact support when I'm back.

There are twe option when creating the first logical drive in an array on DL360

What happens when I select "Perform OPO" and when I select "Do not perform OPO" ?

Would you let me know the difference Over Provisioning of SSD between Over Provisioning Optimization?
