Hi

You can download HPE Systems Insight Manager - MIB Kit from below link.

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c04272529

This kit provides all the necessary MIB files to update HPE SIM, or any other MIB tool, to have the latest support for HPE ProLiant and Integrity servers.

Please refer Compiling and customizing SNMP MIBs with HPE SIM document (Page number 15 to 18) to get information about MIB's.

http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-a00002871en_us-5.pdf

To Monitor hard drives, power supply etc.. you can use below two MIB's.
cpqstsys.mib HP Proliant Storage
cpqhlth.mib HP Proliant System and Environmental

Hello,

I hope all is well.

As per shared information, Battery/Capacitor Status is showing "Recharging" mode. Current SA P220i firmware 4.68 needs to update with the latest because it is running very old firmware.

Update SA P220i firmware as per the below sequence. 4.68----->6------>7.02 or 7.02 (B)------>8.32

I think the server is running very old bios and firmware. I would request you check/update the server with the latest bios to avoid and production impact.

Hello!

I have an refurbished DL360e G8.

HP ProLiant DL360e G8, 1U, 2x Intel Octa Core Xeon E5-2450L 1.8 GHz-2.3GHz, 24GB DDR3 ECC Reg, 2x 146GB SAS/10k, Raid Controller HP SmartArray P420/1GB, iLO 4 Advanced

The haid has the newst FW

One HDD crashed (Was a Seagate ST9146802SS).

The HDD is a HP DG146BB976 (now with the newest firmware)

The problem is that in ILO I get this, and the LED on the caddy is dead after boot:

Physical Drive in Port 1I Box 1 Bay 3

  • Status

Degraded (Not authenticated) Serial Number 3NM933BJ00009939SFWC Model DG146BB976 Media Type HDD Capacity 146 GB Location Port 1I Box 1 Bay 3 Firmware Version HPDF Drive Configuration Configured Encryption Status Not Encrypted

The HDD is new and seems to be working in a RAID array.
Should I worry?

This is the well known "ILO NAND issue".

It only affects OS boot if you boot from internal SD card.

Perfect thank you.

Only wish the HPE support team were as helpful

Pavan S (01/04/2020, 21:17:28): Kevin, Unfortunately we do not support this as HPE uses SIM configuration
Me (01/04/2020, 21:18:19): i'm not asking you to support it. i'm asking if you have a MIB file or OID documentation?
Pavan S (01/04/2020, 21:19:31): No Kevin, We do not have information on this

Kevin

Physical Drive State: Predictive failure. This physical drive is predicted to fail soon

We recently replaced a failed drive in a Smart Array P420i and after a day of work, the drive is showing a warning: Physical Drive State: Predictive failure. This physical drive is predicted to fail soon.

Is there anything we can do besides replacing the hard drive? And what is the process to replace it? Can we do it without shutting down the server?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Torsten,

I have 2 drives for Operating System in Raid 1 and 3 drives in Raid 5.
Boot controller order is raid card followed by sata controller, as far as I remember from home.
I didn’t set boot from Internal Drive. Still, how I can check this and confirm.
In any case, why is the display going black or into repair mode when I boot from iso (OS) file.
I did ran chkdsk and scannow which fixed few issues.
If I don’t want Ilo can I disable it? How?

Is this the case

HPE SSD Smart Path is enabled by default when you create an array using SSD drives, hence the controller cache configuration is not available.

I'm positive I ordered this fully SSD server with cache module. Same time I ordered another exact same server but with SAS drives it shows the cache module on that one

Re: Physical Drive State: Predictive failure.

Here is the ACU Diagnostics report:

I assume the report is for the second drive ... the one you installed to replace the first?

It looks like you replaced one old drive with another old drive. Deep down in your report you have one interesting line item.

Power On Hours 0xa992

0xa992 is a hexidecial number. Converting that hexadecimal number to a regular decimal number results in 43,410..

43,410 hours / 24 hours per day / 365 days per year gives you approximately 4.96 years of powered on running time.

Depending on how heavily used that second drive was it could very well be starting to register errors. Now, it may run just fine for much longer but just know it's not a fresh drive.

If the drive is configured to work in a redundant array then you simply swap a third drive in and the array will rebuild that drive. I couldn't find your configuration details in that report. Maybe one of the HPE employees knows how to find it in all that data.

One item I did find is your drive part number, I think.

Product Revision HP EF0600FARNA

Google searching that last bit tells me the drive is capable of being hot swapped. So, I don't think there is a need to power down the server. Again, let's have the HPE professionals chime in.

Yep, that answered it for me!

Say ... while I have your attention ... how about upgrading the 2GB module in a P430 to 4GB? Will the controller card work with it?

(You can tell I like to push the limits, yes?)

Thanks!

DL180 Gen 9

Good day guys!

I have a DL180 Gen9 that we are using for a student project.  I know there are well known issues with fan speeds in the DL 180 G9, but I was wondering if there is any way that we can address it further. The server is fully updated, so now the fan speed is stuck in the mid 30% if I add a GPU or 10Gb NIC, but I was hoping to lower this more.  Without the cards inserted, the fans are barely audible.

I know this isn't exactly a supported configuration, but please could someone assist?  I'm willing to try anything.

Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

For fan noise so many reasons. HPE recommends using the only supported hardware with the product.

Follow the below DL180 Gen9 quick space for supported components.

If the server updated with the latest bios and firmware, follow the below customer advisory.

Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

I would request you update the server with the latest bios & firmware because I observed so many issues resolved after updates. Hard disk caddy needs to be replaced If the issue still persists after updates.

I would request do not to use none-HPE components with the HPE servers.

Hello,

You are using SATA SSD hard disks in this server, not SAS SSD hard disk.
Please elaborate on your query apart from that if you have any other queries.

I do believe that I have the latest ILO, BIOS and RAID fw.

I've also swapped caddyes and no good news.
