Re: Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus

Hello Pedae,

Thank you for posting your query.

As per the description, two servers have unusal Power distribution to Internal PSU's.

Could you please advise from where is this information captured? Are all these servers in your infrastructure connected to same Power Source?

Also please share the screenshots from iLO 5 GUI --> Power and Thermal

a. Power Meter

b. Power

Please do check Integrated Management logs for any critical/Warning message? If any such alert is reported, please capture a screenshot?

Thank you

BR,

Aniket Chauhan

These are the modes you can configure:

Balanced Mode—The system shares the power delivery equally between all installed power supplies.

High Efficiency Mode (Auto)—The system selects between the odd or even power supply based on a semirandomdistribution within a group of systems.

High Efficiency Mode (Odd Supply Standby)—The system places the odd power supply in standby.

High Efficiency Mode (Even Supply Standby)—The system places the even power supply in standby.

ML350 Gen 9 Issues with Additional Drive Cage/RAID

We have a customer site with ML350 Gen9 with all 8 SFF bays being used, so we have purchased a new  1 X HP Smart Array P440/4G , 1 X ML350 Gen 9 SFF Cage, and 2 x 872481-B21 1.8th SAS 10k Drives, every time we go into the Smart Array it says 'There are no configurable physical drives attache to the current Smart RAID/HBA Controller' We thought it could be the SAS cable so we have tried both part numbers 780991-001 & 774615-001 with no Joy. The Drives have power as they light up on power on to the server. Running out of ideas.

i am also looking to max out the storage on this 24tb, but need to convert he 2.5 to 3.5 bay, how do i do this?  in addition, once i fill the 24tb, can i hook another server directly to this in order to keep increasing my space, what is needed to do that?  any help is really appreciated.

Hello!

Ive recently purchased a Hp Proliant Dl380 Gen10 Installed a 2nd Processor. Installed VMware esxi got it all going. I went to configure the RAID setup and its not recognizing the 10K Hp SAS drives I have installed.

What ive checked so far.

- UEFI enabled in BIOS

- SMART Array Enabled

- Drive board and cables secured

When i go into the Smart Array under Disk management im getting a warning 267 " There are no configurable physical drives attached to the current controller" . All the status lights on the drives are amber  "indicating failure".

Is there anything else I can do to resolve this issue.

Thanks for any feedback

Hello Pedae,

Thank you for sharing the information.

From the screenshot both power supplies are working in Balanced Mode and the status of both PSUs is OK.

Do we notice any Critical/Warning messages in IML logs?

If yes,  I would suggest you to log a ticket with HPE Support Team for detailed analysis.

Thank you

Re: DL380 G7: possible to exchange SFF cage for LFF cage?

i want to say thank you for this thread.  this is exactly what i've been searching for.  i want to do the same conversion becaues its cheaper to run 6 x 4tb drives than to try and get the same storage w/ the 2.5 hdds.  in fact i couldnt find a higher sas drive other than 1tb and it was insanely priced.  i will be doing this for my upgrade to run this server.

Can we use M2 2280 nvme onboard for OS install, and whole disks array in raid mode for data store?

Hello Everyone

I have two HPE DL20 gen10 and planned to install the M2 2280 nvme ssd for OS install
the 6 SAS drives on one raid5 logical volume with HP H240 storage controller raid card  will be used for data storage only.
So the question is: Can we just normal install OS onto M2 SSD then going to disk management on windows server create a parition and use it ? and how the samsung 970 evo 500G nvme card compatibe ? i know there will be some issue with 3rd party part since the mis-report temp will cause of fan over 70%. But that not the end of the world since we just out the server in lab

I'm new to HPE product and not expert on this subject, just buy and deploy for internal development, lab test  use only.

Thanks everyone

Hello,

You have to make sure which smart array controller you are using in this server or any other SA controller in the server.

Make sure backplane cable is connecting to S100i SR, only support SATA disk drive.

Please follow the HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 Software RAID for more clarification.

Hot Plug SFF SATA SSD 6.4TB 16 x 400GB (with optional SFF drive cage)
Hot Plug LFF SATA SSD 6.4TB 16 x 400GB (with optional SFF drive cage)

NOTE: Second drive cage installation replaces internal optical bay.
NOTE: Second drive cage requires the second controller or HP SAS Expander Card (468406-B21).

For HP Drive Cage Options, please refer DL380 G7 quickspecs link below:

https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04199811

Hello

I would suggest you, check/update the SA controller firmware first.

Make sure system bios and SA controller firmware should be updated before adding the hard disk.
