Hi,

Based on the initial post: Controller is not detecting intermittently, that is the primary issue i believe.

I hope it must have discovered again after reboot/power cycle.

As i suggested earlier,

Did you updated controller firmware to latest?

Latest available is 6.64.

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_5e52f965d84f41c2bb65d33b58#tab-history

also there is latest System BIOS Version of 2018,

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_eeaa965a7d8a4990bcc245dfc3#tab4

If possible update BIOS and Smart array to latest and check.

Monitoring 35 ML 110 Gen 10 servers remotely

Hello Techies
I am looking for direction as I would like to do it right this time.  (The best practice)

Purchased 35 HP ML 110 Gen 10 Servers recently for deploying to remote sites.

These are very basic applications and file-sharing servers. They are used because we want a robust device that will last for 5 years without downtime. Been using different generations of ML 110 and ML 350 since 2002.

Considering the fact that all the server ilo will be connected to the network I would like to do the following from the central location or Head office.
1. Monitor Real-time for the vital status of the servers plus the temperature, power, usage, etc..
2. Run a Dashboard on a screen showing the status of each server in real time. of the above data
3. Be able to manage these servers from the one interface (similar to connecting via ilo which i normally do in a browser)
4. Monitor the RAID (Smart array) status
5. Update the critical BIOS and Firmware remotely from the central console.

So which
1.  Software should i use thats available from HPE? (Insight?)
2. Should i keep a standalone server in Head office to host the software centrally and connect a display to the server?

I keep using HP ilo and Insight diagnostics and Array configuration utility locally to check each server.
I want to have a simple dashboard that can show the heartbeat and the status all time.

Thank you,
Regards

How can I resolve the problem to enable the controller?
Which hardware configuration failure is the root cause?

Hello,

Please confirm what is the exact issue.

1. Is the server POST?

2. Is the server not booting to OS.?

I suggest you to have a proper case be logged with HP, and share the appropriate logs for further analysis.

Hi luboss

Try this, for me this was working.

curl -k -X POST https://<FQDN>/json/login_session -d "{\"method\":\"login\",\"user_login\":\"<USERNAME>\",\"password\":\"<PASSWORD>\"}"

you will get a sessionKey

then do

curl -k -X POST https://<FQDN>/json/remote_syslog -d "{\"method\":\"syslog_save\",\"syslog_enable\":1,\"syslog_port\":514,\"syslog_server\":\"<IP1>;<IP2>\",\"session_key\":\"<SESSIONKEY>\"}"

Solution provided by Asen Stoyanov from ERT and Yuzlem Sofu, Support Engineer

Hope this helps.

ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 (P80) Fan 3 noise

Hi All,

I've just purchased the dl320e gen8 v2 (P80) version second hand and it has no warranty or licence and its working perfectly.

that being said, i do have issues with the noise coming from fan 3 running at 30% + while fan 1 & 2 are running nice and quiet at 6%.

I have updated the bios and ilo, what else can I do? the version updates are below.

iLO 2.73 Feb 11 2020
Intelligent Platform Abstraction Data 0.20
Intelligent Provisioning 1.50.130
Redundant System ROM P80 05/21/2018
Server Platform Services (SPS) Firmware 3.0.4.D1.8
System Programmable Logic Device Version 0x05
System ROM P80 04/04/2019
System ROM Bootblock 02/04/2012

I am also running an SSD in AHCI mode.

I did see this fix and it refs the fan noise in AHCI mode, but you have to have a lincence, which I find strange as these units are so old and out of warranty now.

System ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade for HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 (P80) Servers (For USB Key-Media) SP71324.exe (3.8 MB)

Any help would be much aprreciated.

Thanks

Gordon

Hello,

I would suggest you to have a proper case be logged with HP, and share the appropriate logs for further analysis.

If the Bios & ILO updated with the latest as well as make sure no third party hardware ( none-hpe hardware) installed in the server.

Especially, the hard disk should be HPE make.

f the Bios & ILO updated with the latest as well as make sure no third party hardware ( none-hpe hardware) installed in the server.

Especially, the hard disk should be HPE make.

Follow the below steps to isolate the issue.
1. Power drain the server. ( Power of the server and remove both the power cable and hold on power on switch for 30 sec.)

2. If the problem persists please: reset the server with the following steps:

a).Shut down the server, unplug the cables from the power supply, press the on/off button for 10 seconds.

b). Look for the System maintenance Switch on the motherboard, it is number 4 in the diagram below, you must put connector 6 in the ON position:

DL380 Gen 10 / General Question about HW SW RAID Controller

$

Hello,

We have a DL380 GEN 10 with P408i-a SR Gen 10 attached to frontpanels with a couple of disks.

Normally we used to create a RAID using the HW RAID controller. Unfortunatelly  our firewall software vendor disabled any RAID controller support in his specs now.

Thus we disabled the P408i in the system settings, we then switched to UEFI mode. Finally we changed SATA Controller settings to Smart Array SW RAID Support.

From cabeling point of view we took cables from P408i and connected Port 1 to Port 1 of embedded onboard SATA port and Port 2 to Port 2 of embedded onboard SATA port.. It does not matter what we do no disk is presented after POST

All we would like to realize is having the disk reachable directly without any RAID controller. Anyone has an idea how to solve this?

THX in advance.

HI SandurMavericK,

01. In our case we are using Service account, which is part of 2 Security groups and My Domain Account is part of many security groups. We even tested with a test account which is part of single security group. For all accounts we are receving the same issue.

02. Regarding the Microsoft March 10, 2020 patches MS has confirmed that, Updates will not make changes to LDAP signing or LDAP channel binding policies or their registry equivalent on new or existing domain controllers. Anyhow all our DC's are patched with all compatible patches released till July 2020

03. Verified the following registry in all the DC's: Security Providers is listed with 'pwdssp.dll'
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders
