Hi mate do these steps

1. Set jumper 27 to state "Recovery BMC"

2. Update firware BMC initial version (4.22) (set jumper BMC recovery)

3. update bios previous version (need also set jumper BMC recovery, because system coud't start)

4. update firware BMC latest version 4.26.

5. Update bios latest version (O26 (07/01/2013)

Use a USB keyboard and mouse.

If this works for you you can help me by giving a kudos point.

Thanks

This is kind of old but in the event you need read/write and don't have time to take the server offline you can change the public community settings in services.msc>SNMP Service>Security>Edit public community to READ WRITE.

P800 Additional external array appearing as identical, internal disks

$

Hello all,

I have a DL380 G5 with a P800 RAID controller. I have a four-disk internal array that came with the server, and now a SAS array attached externally by the SFF8088 port, which is split to four SATA ports on the backside of a SAS backplane.

Anyway, my issue is this:

When I connect the new devices to the external port on the card, they appear as follows with hpacucli ctrl all show config:

Smart Array P800 in Slot 3 (sn: PAFGF0P9SY407M)

array A (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)

logicaldrive 1 (205.0 GB, RAID 5, OK)

physicaldrive 4I:1:1 (port 4I:box 1:bay 1, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 4I:1:2 (port 4I:box 1:bay 2, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 4I:1:3 (port 4I:box 1:bay 3, SAS, 72 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 4I:1:4 (port 4I:box 1:bay 4, SAS, 72 GB, OK)

array B (SAS, Unused Space: 0 MB)

logicaldrive 2 (1.8 TB, RAID 0, OK)

physicaldrive 4I:1:0 (port 4I:box 1:bay 0, SAS, 2 TB, OK)

unassigned

physicaldrive 4I:1:0 (port 4I:box 1:bay 0, SAS, 2 TB, OK)
physicaldrive 4I:1:0 (port 4I:box 1:bay 0, SAS, 2 TB, OK)
physicaldrive 4I:1:0 (port 4I:box 1:bay 0, SAS, 2 TB, OK)

Expander 250 (WWID: 50014380060273BF)

SEP (Vendor ID HP, Model P800) 249 (WWID: 50014380060273BE)

So two main issues:

* They all show up on 4I, which is (I assume) the internal port. Should they not show up on 2E or something similar?

* They all show up as 4I:1:0. Obviously this makes it impossible to put them into a logical array such as RAID 5 or 6. You can see here I've set one up as a single logical drive for temporary use.

Another piece of data:

If I connect to the other external port, only one or two of the devices show up, also with the same 4I assignment.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks,
Colin

DL380pG8 - Re: HelRe: HP ML350e Gen8 Fan Noise

I ran SPP 2015.10 on two DL380p G8 servers and the fans started going nuts. Fan 5 and 6 (CPU1 Side) were running between 70 and 80% off and on. After checking the ROM Power Profile for Balanced and the Power Regulator for Dynamic I thought it could have been upgrading the firmware from P70 08/02/2014 to P70 07/01/2015 but the fans kept going after I swapped the ROM.

To cut to the chase - it was the StarTech USB 3.0 card. I tried the 2 port and 4 port. Either way, once the card is removed the fans settle down.

One of the DL380pG8 servers is the dual CPU 25 SFF bay and the other is a single CPU 8 bay with a P420 for an additional 8 bay cage. I don't know if the extra heat on that side of the box make fan 5 and 6 rev up from the cards but I have a feeling it was the iLO upgrade from 2.20 to 2.30. That was the only thing I did not downgrade but I don't need the 3.0 ports that bad. I love HP and I love StarTech but in this case the two do not mix. Had no problem with the G7s in the stack.

This took me about 8 hours over two days to figure out so I hope I save someone some time and heartache

In such case it is always a good idea to connect to ILO, go to component status page and check the temperatures.

Some time ago one of the peers was testing something in hardware configuration - some minutes later the server powered off because of overheat. The reason was the opened cover, so the fans could not cool down the disks, the disks reported 62 degrees celsius - the server powered off 'randomly', depending on the temperature of the disks and made a lot of noise...

Adding 2nd P400 controller in ProLiant ML370 G5

$

As stated i have a ProLiant ML370 G5 that needed additional disk space, I had to purchase a second P400 controller and drive cage.  After installing the parts and disks, I booted to the Array Conifguration Utility and created an array on the new disks.  After booting into Windows (it is 2008 64 bit), installing drivers for the controllers fails.  If I try to install driver from Device Manager I get the error "The requested device regitsry key does not exist."  This was installing the latest avilable driver (http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=1156881&swItemId=MTX_88ab78f337f744edbd3f16a4cd&swEnvOid=4024). If i try to run cpqsetup.exe from the extracted download I get:

The installation procedure did not complete successfully. An error occurred during the setup process.

You may look at the setup log file for more details if desired.

Additional Information:
Installation failed on at least one device. One of the devices may have been deleted through Device Manager and a reboot may be necessary to complete the driver installation for this device.

Press the 'Close' button to exit Setup.

Rebooting doesn't change anything.  The log referenced contains the same text.  Process Monitor suggests the installer is trying to read HKLM\software\Policies\microsoft\windows\DeviceInstall\Settings and cannot, the DeviceInstall key does not exist.  I'm assuming it's related to either the driver and/or because there are two controllers, but I'm at a loss what to try next.

Thanks,
Matt

HP Proliant ML350 G6 2 short beeps 3 times

I've got an HP Proliant ML350 G6. All green lights, nothing in iLO logs, IML, Diagnostics.

Yet for some reason every so often (haven't timed it but at least 10 minutes in between I'd guess) I get 3 series of 2 short beeps

Beep-beep, beep-beep, beep-beep

I'm using this as a home lab and it sits in my living room. Any ideas on how to diagnose this would be greatly appreciated,

License has nothing to do with disk configuration.

Where exactly do you see the license message?

But version 2.20 is not from 2016 ...

current version is 2.30, most likely 2.40 next week ...

First find out where the disks are connected to, you have 2 controllers. The built-in B140i is on the systemboard, the H240 is likely a PCIe card (maybe you have a H240ar?).

The H240 can provide each disk as it is or you switch to raid mode and configure a raid (this is enable raid meaning).

(12) is the built-in B140i

(6) is the H240ar or P440ar

HP PROLIANT ML 350 GEN9 207-invalid Memory Configuration - Processor n, DIMM n

$

Hello

First excuse my bad English as i'm French
We are setting up a new server that will be dedicated to virtualisation.

Our Config :
-HP Proliant ML350 Gen9
-Ram 12*16 go = 192 go (same spec for each barret, came from HP , HPE smart memory   2R*4 PC4-2133P-R kit))
-drive : 4 disk SAS 10K of 1.2 TO + 2 disk SAS 10K of 300 go
-One HP smart array controller card P440

Our Issue :
**At the boot i've got theses messages :
207-invalid Memory Configuration - Processor 1, DIMM 2
Incorrectly installed.
Please refer to memory Population Rules in documentation
This Memory will not be utilized

207-Memory initialisation error on Processor 1, DIMM 2.
The operating system may not have access to all of the memory
installed in the system.

207-Memory initialisation error on Processor 2, DIMM 1.
The operating system may not have access to all of the memory
installed in the system.

without specific beep signal
So i wanted to swap the processor 1 dimm2 with an another one in order to check if it is was a configuration order problem or a real problem of the dimm (corrupted , damaged by hand manipulation and static electricity involved … )
During this operation i discover that my 1st configuration which was this :
 see 1stconfig.png attached

... was obviously false I i refer to to the dimm population order scheme :
 see dimmpoporder.png attached

So i move to this second configuration (and still make the switch of 2 dimm)
 see  2ndconfig.png attached

Or this 2nd configuration give me this error message during the boot :

 207-invalid Memory Configuration - Processor 1, DIMM 2
Incorrectly installed.
Please refer to memory Population Rules in documentation
This Memory will not be utilized
207-invalid Memory Configuration - Processor 1, DIMM 5
Incorrectly installed.
Please refer to memory Population Rules in documentation
This Memory will not be utilized

207-Memory initialisation error on Processor 1, DIMM 2.
The operating system may not have access to all of the memory
installed in the system.

207-Memory initialisation error on Processor 1, DIMM 5.
The operating system may not have access to all of the memory
installed in the system.

207-Memory initialisation error on Processor 2, DIMM 1.
The operating system may not have access to all of the memory
installed in the system.

What's wrong ?
*Do i completely miss interpreted the order scheme ?
For me with 12 dimm so 6 dimm for each processor it's
For precessor 1 white bank (ABCD) first then black (EF) (blue not concerned)
For processor 2 white bank first then black (EF) (blue not concerned)
*or maybe there is two pb combining themself ?

The correct order is A B C D E F ...

Looks like it is installed that way.

But you may also have a bad DIMM, a problem with the slot or a problem with the memory controller (it is inside the CPU).

To test this out, consider to swap some DIMMs around and even swap processor 1 with 2 and see what happens.

Since this is a new system, I would maybe just swap the dimms, then call hp service.

The problem is '0 physical drives' - no drives, no config.

Open the server and have a look at the cables.

BTW, the license you talked about is for smart cache, an additional feature.
