The SAS Expander is only used in server models with 25 SFF Slots, right?
We don't have this type of backplane either. Anyways - updating offline with the newest SPP should also update the expander firmware.

Updating Intelligent Provisioning over PXE
Hello,
I'm desperated about a problem with the actual version of HP Intelligent Provisioning Update 2.50 over PXE. HP IP does generally supports booting the update image over PXE. With Version 1.50 we have already a PXE bootable version.
So i tried do do it the same with version 2.50. The boot process works fine but im stuck during the update process with the error "Error flashing NVRAM". I've tried days and nights a lot of workarounds but they didnt work for me.
I even tried to boot the iso over pxe i get the same problem.
Here is the boot config for the actual version:

append iso initrd=management/hp-ipp/HPIP250.iso rawI've tried all on HP Pro Liant 360 G9 and 120 G9. It seems that depends not realy on a specific server hardware.
If i boot the iso file over the ilo and starts the update, then it works. But that is not a pretty solution because in our company we install a lot of new HP server.
Unfortunatly HP doesnt provide a usefull documentation for setting up a functional pxe start of the update packs...
Any ideas?

Version 1.x is for Gen8
Version 2.x id for Gen9
The SPP release notes have a chapter about deploying over PXE, I assume it applies to the IP image too.
BTW, you can deploy IP via HPSUM too, a special 'rpm is available for 1.63 and 2.50.

Breaking RAID mirror of OS disk during OS upgrade
Hi All,
I have to perform OS upgrade from Redhat 5 to Redhat 6.X. We are requested to perform breaking of OS RAID 1 disk and perform the OS upgrade one disk. Post the upgrade, once everything is confirmed fine, we have to rejoin the disk.
Need your expertise in performing in breaking the mirror and rejoining post the activity is done.

I'v just buy Microserver Proliant Gen8 and can not install OS.
The server can not load info GUI mode. The message is
minimal bash-like line editing is supported.... and so
Please, help me to repair Intelligent Provisioning and return GUI mode.

You can install an OS without Intelligent Provisioning. To repair IP, you can download and install the latest recovery image here

thank you. Well, the release notes about the pxe for SPP are quite different. You have to mount the iso as nfs or cifs with pxe. Cifs dont works as well because in the inird the md5 module is missing... So we cannot authenticate with our mirror...
We want it on smb, not on nfs, but thats another case :D

And to make matters worse, the network ports arent functioning.

Hello Everyone,
I was encountering the same problem with my new DL380 Gen9 server not being able to contact the update server. I was on IP 2.40.
I want to report back that the issue has been resolved, at least in my case, after upgrading to IP 2.50. On 2.40, neither DHCP nor static IP helped. Putting iLO onto the same network as my management didn't work either.

After Hp told me to shut off the alering (what a dumb idea) I decied to update the blades.

Smart Storage Batter 1 Failure
Hi everyone,
Recently we've bought 20 HPE DL380 Gen9 and 12 of them showing below error,
HPE Smart Storage Battery 1 Failure - Communication with the battery Failed.
It's output may not be enabled.
Action: Verify battery is properly installed. Refer to user guide. Contact HPE support if condition persists.
I'd be grateful if anyone could kindly help with this matter.

DL165 G7 Bios
I just checked the download page to update the bios on my DL165 G7 since I currently have the March 2011 version of the bios and saw that a valid support contract/warranty is needed. The main reason I wanted to update the bios was to install 2 6276 Opterons into the server, which I can't do without updating.
I tried to find a place to contact HPE to see how much it would be to get the 3.8mb bios file (SP59838.exe), but couldn't find one. This is for purely educational purposes at home and don't need a warranty on the server, just want to update it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get in contact with HPE?
