Step by step os installation;

1. Enter server BIOS using DEL/ESC key.
2. Choose Save and exit menu
3. Choose restore default option and use F4 to save and exit.
4. Reboot the server and enter server BIOS
5. Now select Advanced menu
6. Select SATA configuration
7. Select SATA mode selection and set to RAID mode (AHCI mode would be default)
8. Go back to Advanced menu and select CSM configuration
9. Change CSM support to enable and boot option filter to Legacy only (Boot mode set to Legacy)
10. Use F4 to save and exit.
11. Reboot the server and enter into Intel rapid storage technology setup utility using CTRL+I option when prompted.
12. The hard drives detected by the controller would be listed in the page and use (option 1) Create Raid volume

HP website mentions 0.1.5.2 but does not have any visible links to the firmware download.  Latest signed .bin file on HP site is 0.1.4.4 eventhough it's supposed to be removed.

No need for a backplane just a system board (depending on model) is needed. For older generation where A voltage regulator was a separate module a VRM was required.

No backplane of any sort will cause this particular error.

It worked and now I already installed Windows Server 2012, but:

- my Downloaded ISO of Windows Server 2012 R2 Avalution was not bootable :( don't know why...

- I installed Windows X x64 and then from the Windows, I started the Server-Setup and choose Advanced setup

- old Windows X has been moved to Windows.old folder and now everything is working fine.

Perfect ! 

So now we have Dell pulling back their updates, HPE pulling back their G9 updates ( G8 still under investigation), and no news from HPE on Gen 7 (coordinating with HPE TAM on our end ). Cisco on their hand have played safe, no updates till 18th Feb 2018 ! 

We have hundreds of Gen 7 servers in production !! 

And ideally speaking, Gen 7 was retired on 30th April 2013 - so the support with regard to critical patches should be entertained till 30th April 2018 ... no ?!

Hi, I have got a few DL360e Gen8. All running P73 08/02/2014 as firmware, but I noticed a difference in POST Splash Screen. It looks exactly like in this posting https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0107107 but the fix mentioned there does not help. Any ideas how to fix that behavior for DL360e?

We have a Proliant DL 320e Gen8 v2, this server has a P222 smart array controller (512 MBytes Cache) and two SAS hard disks and 12 Gbytes of RAM.

The Smart Storage Administrator shows the next error: Smart Array P222 is disable because the cache module is not attached. Please re-attached the cache module to re-enable the controller.

We did:

1.  Check the cache battery (FBWC). It is good, it has 5.4 volt.
2. Re - attach the cache module with and without hard disks.

We appreciate your help.
