Hi Peter,

You can download HPE Smart Stard CD from the HPE website.

For 64 bit OS, it is available at https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_2e6c41afdb8c4c0d9bffce484c.

For 32 bit OS, it is available at https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_855dfa9721d34696bfcac699bb.

Also we recommend to update the system firmware to the latest version using Firmware Maintenance DVD available at https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_4372f442c3424063809e3d9198.

Regards,

KK

Hi,

I doubt, as i do not see any such part available in spare/option part list of this server.

I feel you need to buy SFF Backplane, Cage, Cable kit and controller(since you have SAS drives) but before that you should contact the reseller for more information.

HPE DL380 Gen10 and Sensor -1

I have 22 HPE DL380 Gen10 servers running vSphere 6.7

I upgraded vCenter to 6.7U3 and am now starting to upgrade the ESXi hosts to 6.7U3.

The first host I upgraded, I noticed in the ESXi event log many errors related to "Sensor -1" being logged every minute.

There was a new EP13 patch released by VMware to fix this, however even after applying this new patch, the Sensor -1 hardware error is still occuring.

Anyone else having this issue?

move disks from ML350 G6 to ML310e G8

One of our servers, an HP ML350 G6 has broken down (motherboard problem).

We have another server, an HP ML310 G8 and I want to know if it would be possible to move the SAS disk from the old server (ML350 G6) to the new server (ML310 G8) and try to boot the new server.

It's is necesary to change something in the new server to allow this migration of disk? Or it's impossible?

We have 6 SAS disk configured in RAID 1 (two of them) and RAID 5 (the rest of disks).

Is compatible the ML310 G8 disk controller?

Thanks in advance,

Marcos.

Limit C drive On Intelligent Provisioning - Install Windows Server

Hi All,

I want to know something simple actually, but I can not find it out after searching on the internet.

I want to install Windows Server via Intelligent Provisioning. After RAID configuration, then we create one big logical drive with all size available on the RAID group.

Then I go to 'Install OS Express' to start installing OS. What I look for is how to limit C drive on OS? I do not want to use all logical drive with big size to be C drive all. I want to to use around 100 - 150 Gb only to be C drive, while the rest I will set to be DATA drive. But anyway, I can not find any form/feature to limit C drive on 'Install OS Express'. Maybe I miss it somewhere? Please share if you know how to get this purpose.

Best Regards,

Mantap27

If the ML310e has one of the optional 'P' series Smart Array controllers you should be able to move the SAS drives. The embedded B120i only supports SATA

Prolitian DL380 G7 Smart Array Card Problem

$

Goodmorning everyone,
I recently purchased a Proliant DL380 G7 for my home lab and I connected an SSD on which I installed ESXi 6.7.
I exported a 2TB volume from the NAS with NFS protocol to ESXi which sees it correctly.
The problems are:
1. ESXi detects an undefined error on the vmhba0 card (Smart Array P410i)
2. SSD is unusable (on datastore browser an error appears)
3. All the VMs running on the 2TB NFS datastore are terribly slow (CPU and RAM have nothing to do with it and the old server used the same NAS but was faster)
4. When I try to stop the server the red health led turns on and the machine does not turn off.

Can you kindly help me with these problems?
Thanks a lot!

Hello,

Please let me, this is a local boot ( from the local hard disk) or SAN boot.

I would like to know "When I try to stop the server the red health led turns on and the machine does not turn off." as well as share the below-required information to isolate the issue.

Is the server is booting to OS?

Is the server is powering ON?

If the server is completing the POST?

If the server is powering ON, what is coming POST?

If this is a local boot, suspecting the SA controller faulty.

Please share all above required information.

Hi,

Two method that you can follow to install OS on ML350 G5 server.

Method 1: You can either perform OS installation directly by using the OS image & provide the driver for the smart arrray controller.

Method 2: Use HPE Smart Start CD utility to perform assisted OS installation.

Link to download SSCD:  https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_855dfa9721d34696bfcac699bb

Refer the Link for SSCD User Guide <Manual OS installation(Method 1) & (Assisted OS installation (Method 2)>

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00316111#N10135

Note: Recommended will be Method 2 using SSCD for hasle free OS installation.

Hi

If there are no hardware errors logged and no events captured in the Integrated Management Log (IML), you can follow the action mentioned in customer advisory resolution section.

rive Array - Please replace Cache Module Super-Cap.

Got this error on one of the Servers, local AMC engineers suggested to replace the capacitor (SPS-CA CAPACITOR 36in FL)

1705-Slot X Drive Array - Please replace Cache Module Super-Cap. Caching will be enabled once Super-Cap has been replaced and charged.

is it the correct solution and if we replace will it lose any data
