Hi,

Smartarray firmware does not dynamically update the parameter called 'Minimum good firmware revision'. Due to this, the  value of this parameter is still holding the version from the old/replaced failed disk(stale information)

This should be fixed on server reboot and this is only cosmetic issue and can be ignored till reboot.

Well, the question was not about the disks... they work fine.
The question was why I see 0MB of cache when I installed a 512MB module?
Is cache only activated when the SAS license is installed?

DL360p gen8 - SAS drive LED not working

Hello,

I have a DL360p gen8 server.

- in bay 1 to 4 I got 4 HP SAS drives EG000300JWSJP with latest firmware HPD2, drives are installed in their original caddies P/N 651687-001, array is RAID5 and working fine.

- In bay 5 and 6 I have two Crucial MX500 SSD drives in HP original caddies, same PN as the other ones, array is RAID1 and working fine.

- The controller is the embedded one, P420i with 2GB FBWC module and battery.

At startup all drives are flashing their led and everyhing is lit normally (blue ID led, activity ring, warning led, and disk green/amber led).

After the LED check the indicators of the crucial drives are working as expected, central green icon lit, activity ring when used, blue id indicator is on when requested and if i remove a drive from array the warning indicators lights up

For the HP drives the only indicator working is the activity ring, no green disk indicator, no blue light if identification is requested, and no warning light if I remove a disk from the array.

Any idea of what it could cause the problem??

Hi Johannes, 

Kindly verify the pre-requisities mentioned in the user guide and provide us with the outcome. 

Prerequisites for configuring authentication and directory server settings:

1.Verify that your iLO user account has the Configure iLO Settings privilege.

2.Install an iLO license that supports this feature.

3.Configure your environment to support Kerberos authentication or directory integration.

4.The Kerberos keytab file is available (Kerberos authentication only).

Hi,

I only want to use LDAPs and no Kerberos till now and from what I understand this is not a requirement?

All the other things are correct implemtented.
From what i was seeing is that the Directory User Context is not working with our Active Directory LDAP.

Another problem seems beeing that the test is failing but login works just fine.

Hi,

thanks for your comment, I'm not asking how it should work, since this is not the first server i put my hands on.

I'm reporting a problem!

I have 4 HP disks in their original caddies, where the indicators are not working as expected, only activity ring works! All other indicators are lit at boot for less than a second (indicators check) then are turned off.

I experienced exactly the same problem. We do a lot of changing from G7 to G8 frames... also mounting SSDs in G8 frames. And normally there is no problem if you take frames from defective original disks.

But recently someone bought a hand full of "chinese" HP disk frames and they produced the same error message. The disk will work without problem but the Smart Array controller informs you that tha LEDs won't work correctly. So I think it's an electronic communication problem between the array controller and the disk frame LED chip.

If you look closely, you can see a difference in the LED lights. The non-HP LEDs are brighter and they look more hollow when turned off. Generally those fake frames are made pretty well but it seems they didn't get the chip right...

Hello,

You have to reboot the server after the firmware update.

Read the installation instructions before firmware updates.

Hello,

Follow the below steps to isolate the issue.

1. Reseat the cache module.

2. Check/update the SA controller firmware.

3. Log a support ticket if the issue still persists.

Please clear the NVRAM to follow the below documents ( Page 79)

If the issue still persists, I would request you to log a support ticket with the HPE  for further investigation. ( Suspected system board issue)

Thank you! I was using SPP 2017.0.4, and I was able to figure out the installation of the firmware using the instructions provided on the individual download pages. I just copied the files onto the USB drive running the SPP, and it worked.

Re: DL380 Gen10's LFF hard drive caddy

The LFF caddy only reference for newer Gen9/Gen10 servers with the two leds on the left is 774026-001

But the DL380 g10 seems to use the previous gen from the ML350Gen8 with the round lights, which is a different part number : 651314-001

Also check 651320-001 which seems to be the adapter for SFF disk in a LFF caddy.


DL360 Gen9 - Internal Storage Enclosure Device Not Authenticated As Genuine

Hello,

Since we updated every firmware using HP SSP (P26940_001_spp-2020.03.0-SPP2020030.2020_0319.22.iso) we started receiving this error for 2 drives. 

"Internal Storage Enclosure Device Not Authenticated As Genuine"

The configuration is :

Smart Array H240ar with 4 drives. Only 2 have the "Not Enthenticated as genuine" error...

i tried to Downgrade the Firmware of the smart array, but the problem still the same.

Currently all the firmware have been updated to the latest version with the HP SSP 2020.03.0.

What should i do to resolve this issue ?

I have once again booted the iso you provided from thumb and entered the Raid Utility. The same warnings apply. No cache and no disks found. The report

The date in the report appears wrong. I have deleted the zip prior to booting the iso so im sure this report in new.

Te trial key in de utility says:

HP Smart Array Advanced Pack v.1.0
Licence Type: Demo Licence
Install date: 2020-04-18
Exp: 60 days after installation
Status: OK

There was no raid6 prior to swapping motherboard. I believe 2x a raid1.

I have once again erased the disks in the utility, but thats not the solution since the disks arent spinning(?).  The amber lights still come on at boot.

The 1 good disk as said by ILO3 is a weird message? Because prior to change motherboard all 4 were all working fine.

At what stage should the disks start spinning? Because they are not spinning at all.

Hi  ,

yes, it's power supply fan rev up/down. (both)

I try to remove, reset.

I update bios and ilo firmware.

The result is the same

 

I haven't a spare power supply from other server

Hi,

I believe you need to replace them.

You should raise a support case with HPE if server is still under contract.
