Is the Network card on the server is Offline?

Other PC's connected to the same switch are working fine, is this correct?

If so, what is the LED status on the ports of the Network card in the server? Do you see any lights on the ports?

Have you replaced the cable with a good working cable for testing? Have you connected to another port on the switch for testing?

What is the exact Model number of the server & the Network card in the server?

Are the Driver & the firmware versions up to date?

Please verify all the above & provide an update.

Greetings!

The 8 Drives were configured in a array with the onboard controller, I removed that logical array and than installed the new card P440 with no array created whatsoever. 

-I do not see the card gettint initialised during POST.

-The RAID controller is detected on BIOS. 

-I've tried all PCI lanes on the CPU 1 BUS. 

The different server is another machine, its a HP DL360 Gen9, its the only one I had onhands to try, just wanted to check if the controller was not damaged. And in this server it boots perfectly.

Hello. Yesterday I ordered the riser card 662885-B21 I received on 07/27/2020 from NewYork. Yesterday I went to the server room and I upgraded the CPUs from E5-2690 to E5-2690V2, obviously the riser card that I installed now did not recognize the Nvidia Grid K2 and even the network card, but unlike the last time the network LEDs remain off and only light up when you plug in the network cable. After this test, I turned everything off, reinstalled the original riser and reinserted the network card and everything started again.

As soon as I get the riser I assemble it and update you. The doubt remains the power cable because now I have a 50cm long 6 + 8 pin cable, I would not want it to cause problems in this too and to have to recover the different power cable.

Hello again, 

UPDATE! 

Remembered to boot the server, wait a few hours and run the 2020 service pack.  Turns out the Controller is detected and when trying to update returns the error code 3 (newer firmware already installed), since I have no more updates for the server I believe this is a incompatibilty issue between the server and controller.

Hello.

I appreciate this ticket is now fairly old but wanted to add to the thread for any future viewers.

Having recently (back in January 2020) purchased a DL380 Gen 10, we experienced the same issue shortly after installation, following a reboot - in our case, 4 fans running at 94% and the other 4 running between 40 and 50% Following 'flea power release' steps did resolve and we did not encounter the issue again until yesterday when, following a reboot, we were back up to 94% fan speed. It appears HPE have released an update back in April to address this in the form of Innovation Engine Firmware release 0.2.2.0. Specifically for us, the CPU temperature was not listed in the iLO interface temperature panel suggesting it couldn't read the value.

As per the release notes, you do need to complete a reboot following the extraction to initiate the update.

If not already installed, the Channel Interface Driver. will be required. As always, worth checking for future releases before updating.

BLACK SCREEN

Hello friends!!

I want to understand something about my HPE ML350 Gen10.

I have configured

-RDS for 10 users 

-15 connected directly

so when i want to access to that sever by simple remote desktop, i have a black screen

I want to know if that probleme is about my GPU or other problem.

I don't think it's a problem with the GPU

I've done a spot of googling and found the following suggestion

When the screen goes bakc try CTRL-ALT-END. Hit cancel, then close RDP.  Re-opened RDP and hopefully your screen should be back

Hallo guys,

how to enable log/logs in ILO?

My machine is DL360Gen10 ILO5 ver2.18:

iLo Evet Log - freezes on message "Loading the iLO Event Log, please wait ..."
Integrated Management Log - show last message 09/29/2019, refresh doesn't respond
Security log - is empty
Active Health System viewer - shows message:
Error: File was not able to be processed as SMBIOS type 0 records are not found.

Restart ILO unsuccessful...

When I have problems with firmware upload, system ROM for example, I would like to see details... 
And not only in ILO web browser, in IloRest also... 

Any ideas?

hp proliant dl385 gen10 plus ram not running at 3200

Hi I am hoping someone has a quick answer to this. As the title says we have a DL385 GEN10 PLUS that we have fully loaded with 64gb 3200mhz Micron memory (total of 2TB of memory). However it only runs at 2933 mhz. Even when attempting to manually set the Maximum Memory Bus Frequency in BIOS I can only get up to 2933mhz.

The spec sheet says we can run at 3200 up to 2TB however we are not getting it. Is there a BIOS update that needs done or some other settings in BIOS that I am missing to "unlock" this?

Hi

The processor should have 2.1GHz Base Frequency but 3.2GHz Max Turbo Frequency https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/193390/intel-xeon-silver-4208-processor-11m-cache-2-10-ghz.html 

The VM will run ERP SW which likes high CPU frequency. So I try to enable the 3.2GHz Max Trubo Frequency: All ready selected "Virtualization - Max Performance" at BIOS.

After that i powered the VM on but the Win 2019 std still says the CPU has 2..1 GHz frequency.

What I am missing here and is it possible to have 3.2GHz frequency in my system.?The server is not jet on production so I can play with it for couple days.

If nothing else can I swap the processor to faster one? Only 500W powers though. I only have two VMs in the host.

Greetings!

As per last update I can understand that the controller is now detected.

Are you able to see the controller in Smart Storage Administrator now and do the drives show up as assigned since there is no logical drives created?- hope you have already taken data backup from the drives.

If the drives are not detected, please verify if you have the following cable kit installed. As per "HPE ProLiant DL80 Generation9 (Gen9) QuickSpecs" and link below as well, the cable is required if you are installing P440 on DL80 Gen9.

Coming back to the POST issue, please try the following steps and see how it goes.

1. Set BIOS to manufacturing defaults. Steps on page# 128 of link below.

2. Set the Onboard controller to "Enable SATA AHCI Support" refer Page 47 on the below link.

3. Set Power Profile to Maximum Performance. Page# 77

4. If the issue persists, please test the server with only the P440 controller (without any PCIe card installed).

You mention it's Micron RAM. Was the RAM purchased from HPE or from Micron?

Hi Darren_cw,

I had a ticket opened to HPE support, basically its outcome was "working as designed". They didn't comment why really it works for Linux hypervisor and not for vSphere. Eventually I just bought myself a hardware controller - HPE Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10, and it works like a charm now.

Senitive data management on AHSV server

Hello,

Component details and sw levels are considered as sensitive data in France for some operators or companies.This applies to the hw and sw levels of HP servers.

This information is present in the Active Health Systems (AHS) logs.

As a result, I need additional insurance:

-> How is the information is archived and protected at AHSV level ?

-> Can we set a retention delay on the downloaded files ?

-> Does it apply also when support case is submitted from AHS logs ?

Hi  

Error count: 758, (In decimal)

This could be potential hardware or firmware issue.

Look for latest drive firmware and update it.

Check again later/after couple of days post firmware update,

whether the error count is increasing ? also  if you are facing any issues in the OS/application level (read/write error or IO/Bad block) if yes, you should replace the drive. 

however,

If there is no problem and errors are also not incrementing you can continue to use this drive until there is any failure/Predictive failure/Bad block observed.

Hello

I am looking to replace an HDD raid 10 in a proliant ml350p g8 with SSD raid 10 

is it possible to replace one by one ? or am i forced to remove disks and reinstall the server ?

raid card is : smart array p430
